We have grown up together since being in a playgroup before pre-school and it was such an honor to photographer her and Ben’s wedding.  The whole weekend was an amazing celebration with details executed perfectly by Kelly from Mint Weddings along with great food from Giuseppe’s Fine Catering.  I loved the rehearsal dinner and except for the Red Sox hats (go A’s!) I loved all the details of the wedding.  The cigar roller was a great touch and both the Hora and the Chinese Tea ceremony were great cultural elements that they included into their special day.  And I can’t forget the cupcakes from Sweet Cheeks…amazing!  Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to read Carolyn’s take on the wedding along with all the details of the day.  Thanks again Carolyn and Ben for having us shoot your wedding!

Inspiration:
Our inspiration and concept of the evening was to replicate how we welcome our guests when they come to our home. Besides the ceremony, we wanted our guests to just feel like they were walking into a party. Giuseppe, our caterer, called the theme a “flow” reception. The Hora and the Chinese Tea ceremony were performed to keep some traditions of each of our cultures alive.

DIY: Servers wore Red Sox caps in honor of Boston and Ben’s business

Favors: Plum and lime green pashminas for the women; cigars for all guests

Bridesmaid’s Gifts: Inspired by Oprah, it was a collection of my favorite things: carryon luggage for my love of travel, monogramed stationary for my love of papers and notes, Lululemon pants for my latest addiction, plum tank top for my wardrobe staple, and lastly, custom necklaces and earrings (to be worn on wedding day) made by my mother-in-law because I love her talent.

Toast: Instead of toasting champange, we toasted with shots of Sweet Tea Vodka, which origniated from Charleston.

Food plays a major role in our lives, so we wanted to express our love for our favorite things, inspired by our cultures and favorites:

Menu:
Horderves: Mini Slider Bar with french fries
Passed: New England Clam Chowder, Potato Latkes, Chinese Pork Buns
Stations: “Southern Comfort” - Fried chicken and waffles, mac and cheese, collard greens & cornbread
“Asian” - Lettuce wrap bar, spicy tuna and california sushi rolls.
“Italian” - Ravioli bar - ceasar salad, grilled vegetables, rolls
Open bar (obviously!)

Charleston is one of our most favorite cities, so Charleston Weddings was one of my favorite magazines to browse for ideas. You were also a go-to for specifics for ideas and creations. Other than that, we brought our ideas to Kelly and Giuseppe and they really helped make those wishes reality.

Advice to other brides: do what you want, it is your day! Our day wouldnt of been what it ended up to be had we succumbed to the pressure from others :)
