Kristen and Alex’s Wedding was simple put, stunning. In planning their Wedding they wanted to elope but decided on having two ceremonies with one at City Hall with just the two of them and then another simple ceremony at Orson where they had their reception. Natalie Bowen provided simple but perfect flowers for the day which matched Kristen’s Pink Wittner shoes she picked up in Australia. One of my favorite moments of the day was after the ceremony when Alex and Kristen took the time to tweet what had just happened. Also, if you haven’t already you can see the write up in San Francisco Brides where their wedding was just featured. Lastly, be sure to scroll to the bottom to read what Kristen had to say about the Wedding.

San Francisco City Hall and Orson Restaurant

What inspired you in planning the wedding?- Our main inspiration was to keep the wedding low-key. We wanted it to feel more like a cocktail party than a traditional wedding.

What were your favorite moments, surprises, traditions from the day?- My favorite moments were the separation of the ceremonies. We had stressed for months on how to please both ourselves and our families (we wanted to elope, they didn’t want us to) The idea of 2 ceremonies was the perfect solution. The biggest surprise of the day were uninvited guests at our reception. We had tried to keep the reception small and intimate, but someone in our immediate family took it upon themselves to invite some extended family members that we are not close to, and they showed up and caused some tension with our other guests. My favorite tradition was the fact that we were so non-traditional. It took me awhile while planning to realize that we had the freedom to do things the way we wanted, there was no rule that we had to do things in a certain way.

Dress designer, shoes, Jewelry, Etc. Groom’s suit, etc.- My dress was a bridesmaid’s dress in ivory made by Coren Moore. My shoes were an Australian brand called Wittner that I picked up on a trip to Sydney. My veil, bolero, and earrings all came from Etsy. My bracelet was Marc Jacobs, and my purse was a vintage clutch. Alex’s suit was Hugo Boss, his shirt was Armani, and his tie was Express Men.

Vendors- The only other vendor we had other than you was Natalie Bowen for our flowers! We didn’t rent anything and our invitations were email. Alex created the playlist for our reception.

DIY elements- I attached the veil to my headband myself and Alex created our playlist as mentioned.

Favorite Blogs or Magazines used in planning the wedding- I looked to WeddingBee and Offbeat Bride for inspiration.

Advice that you’d give to other Brides?- Keep in mind that nothing is perfect. Your wedding day is a special day, but if something doesn’t work out the way you want, it’s not the end of the world. Also, don’t forget to eat! I was so busy talking to people that I only got one cocktail, none of our appetizers, and one bite of dessert.

I love seeing pictures of weddings at City Hall — the buildings are so pretty inside and out — really makes for a lovely backdrop for a photo shoot! Cute couple too!
