001MTWED2385EMike and Tamar’s Wedding had it all.  From their intimate Bedecken and Ketubah Ceremonies to the portraits under an overpass the day was flat out FUN! It was one of those days that after long hours of shooting and being on my feet I was still energized!.  As a photographer I felt totally blessed to be able to have experienced all of that with them.  This was our first wedding working with Emily and Lauren of Downey Street Events and let me tell you, these ladies are amazing.  The attention to detail that went into their planning was amazing and I am so excited to work with them multiple times this year.  I also have to give a big shout out/thanks to Jon of Encarnacion Photography for shooting this wedding with me.  Its always a blast to work with a great photographer and friend and congrats on the birth of your new daughter Olivia.  Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post for a recap of all of the details from Emily along with a complete vendor list.  Also, their wedding was featured over on an amazing blog, Ruffled, in a 2 part post which you can see here and here.  And if you want to view even more of the photos head over to the clients section of the site here. Thank you Mike and Tamar for allowing us to share in such a special day.  And one more thing, if you haven’t already, be sure to check out their engagement photos where we shot inside SFMOMA and had such a blast. And last of all, way to go J Date for connecting these two!

Tamar and Mike are the definition of a uniquely wonderful couple.  From the moment you meet them, you get a sense of their flair for vintage fashion, and their love of bright colors (especially Tamar!).  They brought all of this to their October wedding - and it was an event to be remembered in so many ways.

Tamar and Mike did most of the planning for their wedding themselves, and the entire event revolved around splashes of bright color - especially her favorites, hot pink and bright green.  From her vintage pink wedding gown, to the rainbow-colored bridesmaids dresses, to the gerber daisies and strawberry shortcake-themed floral arrangements, to the brightly colored skinny ties on the groomsmen, to the most incredibly gorgeous Ketubah anyone had ever seen - it was color, color, color.

The ceremony and reception were both held at the Palm Event Center in Pleasanton, California.  This venue was great for the event.  The huge palm trees on the property were a theme for the wedding, showing up on invitations and menus (made by the bride and groom), and the gorgeous hand-made escort cards and pins that the bride and groom labored over.  In addition, the town of Pleasanton offered a wide variety of great locations for wedding party photos, including the town arch, and a great wall of graffiti for some fun photographs, taken by Joel Flory.  36 inch balloons provided by Downey Street Events added a fun touch to the pictures.

Tamar and Mike walked down an aisle lined with brightly colored paper flowers in various sizes, made by the bride and her made of honor.  Guests snacked on saltwater taffy in strawberry and watermelon, from various-sized bowls decked out in ribbon and personalized labels designed by Downey Street Events.  The bride and groom included jokes on the back of all of the menus.  Later on in the evening, everyone danced the night away thanks to a DJ and specialized music selections, and enjoyed the photobooth provided to preserve candid moments throughout the night.  Tamar and Mike brought their sense of humor to the cake as well - their toppers were Rainbow Bright and Hans Solo.

Tamar and Mike did an amazing job of planning a wedding that truly expressed their personalities.  It made the event all the more memorable for their family and friends.
